My work is an inner narration of what I love here in West Penwith. It is a poetic response to what I see, feel and hear walking in the landscape and looking at skyscapes and seascapes. I paint at home and in remembering I imagine, focus and play with the paint to capture the emotions I feel and the stories of shape and colour.
My paintings could be described as symbolic expressionism. I make shapes or characters in a space which conjure mood and memory and recreate aspects of places and moments.
My family always holidayed in Cornwall until they moved here 30 years ago. I've lived in Bath, London and Hove. Cornwall has always been a significant part of my life, a place of family, home and heart. I moved here permanently in 2015 and paint full time.
I studied foundation level Art at Bath Academy of Art and received a BA (hons) in Fine Art (Painting and Photography) from Maidstone College of Art.
